The title “Equine Osteopath EDO®” stands for Equine Diplomate Osteopath, a trademark and quality mark registered since 2006 throughout the USA, Canada, Europe, and Australia.
Obtaining and using the EDO title distinguishes you in interactions with horse owners, other equine professionals, and veterinarians in the growing unregulated animal therapy industry.
The EDO title is trademarked and licensed to REDOI and indicates that titleholders are:
Graduates of top-tier educational institutions with rigorous educational requirements
Proficient in advanced animal osteopathy as demonstrated by passing the Equine Osteopath Competency Examination (EOCE)
Dedicated to pursuing additional osteopathic education and quality whole animal care.
As of January 1, 2026, only active registrants in good standing with REDOI may use the EDO title. Once REDOI accepts your registration application, you can use the EDO title until your annual registration period expires (December 31). Be sure to renew your registration by January 1 each year to maintain continuous use of the EDO title.
Only active registrants in good standing are included in the directory. Please register with REDOI.
The cost is US$300 annually (for the 12-month period of January through December) and an additional US$150 annually (also for the 12-month period of January - December) for the canine certification. Payment can be made through wire transfer or PayPal. There is a 5% fee for using PayPal.
The minimum requirement is 30 CE points per year; excess points can be carried over, subject to approval by the Animal Osteopathic Continuing Education Accreditation Council (AOCEAC).
Approved CE activities (effective January 1, 2026) include attending post-graduate courses through accredited institutions (2x points per hour), retaking modules through accredited institutions (1 point per hour), submitting case studies (up to 10 points), participating in peer collaboration days (up to 10 points per day), attending the Worldwide Alliance of Equine Osteopaths (WAEO) conference (points determined yearly), and attending other approved conferences and courses with osteopathic relevance (up to 1 point per hour).
REDOI will prorate the number of CE credits required. For example, if you pass the EOCE in June, you will need to obtain 15 CE credits from July through December to renew in December for the next annual registration period (January - December).
Click the registration button and fill out the registration form with your supporting documents and payment (wire transfer, PayPal, or U.S. cheque). REDOI will prorate your registration fee when you register within 30 days of completing the canine classes. For example, if you complete the canine classes in June and register with REDOI, your initial fee to add the canine designation to your registration will be US$75, and your designation will be active through December. Then you will need to pay US$150 in addition to the US$300 fee to renew your registration and canine designation in December for the next annual registration period (January - December).
Upon acceptance of your registration, you will receive an email with a personal login to the REDOI website to access “members only” content.
To maintain your registration with REDOI and retain use of the EDO title, annually you will submit your list of continuing education for approval along with the registration fee through your member login.
Failure to maintain registration will result in losing your right to use the EDO title and removal of your name and contact information from the directory on the REDOI website.
At REDO International, safeguarding the reputation and authenticity of our certified veterinary specialists is of utmost importance. As such, all individuals holding the title of REDO Designated Officer (EDO) must maintain an active registration with REDO International. This process ensures that our specialists adhere to the highest standards of veterinary care and professional conduct. If anyone represents themselves as an EDO without proper registration with REDO International, we will pursue legal action to protect the integrity of both the title and those who legitimately hold it. This rigorous enforcement helps maintain trust and reliability in the veterinary services we offer, assuring clients that their pets are in the hands of qualified and verified professionals.
If you are struggling to meet your CE requirements due to pregnancy, illness, or other extenuating circumstances, please contact the REDOI Secretary at secretary@redointernational.org. We are happy to review your situation and work with you to find a solution.
Please have your educational institution contact us directly at info@redointernational.org to begin the accreditation process.
If you have an educational program or yearly equine, canine, or animal osteopathy conference, submit it to the AOCEAC for pre-approval for CE points. Pre-approved CE points will help you to market your program or conference to registered EDOs. Please contact us to apply.
