Complaints and Disciplinary Procedures

REDOI does not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, gender identity, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or any basis protected by federal and international law.

REDOI is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity among accredited institutions and EDOs. REDOI has a formal independent structure in place to address complaints and manage disciplinary matters:

  • Disciplinary Board – Investigates complaints against EDOs and/or faculty of accredited institutions and conducts formal disciplinary proceedings.  The Disciplinary Board has three members: an EDO who is a faculty member at the accredited institution from which the EDO graduated or at which the faculty member under investigation works, and two members from the Board of Directors.

  • Appeals Board - Hears appeals of Disciplinary Board decisions.  The Appeals Board is composed of the five members of the Board of Directors who did not sit on the Disciplinary Board for the case under appeal.

If a complaint against a member of the Board of Directors is received, the board member under investigation will recuse themself from any decision-making role in the disciplinary proceedings.  In addition, a board member will recuse themself from a decision-making role in any disciplinary proceeding in which they have a conflict of interest or their impartiality could be questioned.  The other members of the Board of Directors may choose another EDO to substitute for the recused board member.  Recusals and substitutions will ensure fairness and maintain public and members’ trust in the impartiality of the disciplinary decisions and appeals.

Complaint Process

If direct communication with the EDO or faculty member does not resolve your concern, submit your complaint to the REDOI Secretariat by emailing secretary@redointernational.org.  Your complaint will be reviewed by the Disciplinary Committee, who will follow up with you for additional information. If the Disciplinary Committee decides to investigate the complaint, the EDO against whom the complaint was filed will be required to pay an administrative fee. This fee is intended to cover the initial costs associated with processing the complaint and could be refunded if initial review determines that the complaint is unfounded. Any additional costs incurred for investigating, documenting, and responding to the complaint, regardless of the final outcome, will be reimbursed by the EDO against whom the complaint was filed.

If the Disciplinary Board investigates and determines that the EDO or faculty member violated the code of conduct, the Disciplinary Board will determine the appropriate penalty based on the severity and number of the offense(s). Penalties can include fines, requirements for additional education, removal of the right to use the EDO title, and removal from a faculty position.

REDOI is committed to fair, respectful, and transparent resolution of all complaints.
